I NEVER KNEW MUCH ABOUT PUPPY MILLS UNTIL I WENT SHOPPING ONLINE FOR A PUPPY. DON"T SHOP, ADOPT! AND SAVE A LIFE!

this is my story………
I went looking for a pure white micro chihuahua or maltese puppy online
and it lead me to another world, a really @«¥¤ed up one !
I could not find the sort of dog I wanted from anywhere in australia, the only good pups I could find where on overseas sites.
These dogs live for a long time some close to 20 years apparently so
I wanted to find exactly what I was looking for and not seattle for anything less, if I was going to get a pup I thought a small one would fit in with my life style best.
So I started searching for overseas breeders who transport to Australia.
The first site I came across ‘munchkinlandchihuahuas.com’ had perfect pups but didn’t transport to Aus :(
so I kept searching and came across another overseas site that does transport to Australia, MsPuppyConnection.com
They have puppy nanny’s and everything who travel with the dogs.
They are not breeders but a puppy placement program who says they have teamed up with a few different breeders near them.
The dogs cost anywhere from $ 2500 to 4500 and its 1800 to get them to Aus.

The pups on this site are amazing any pet lover would pay that much for one,
I was willing to start saving for one or maybe even two!!

But if your gonna send this much money to a company overseas you wanna do research on the company first no matter how legit they look
RIGHT..? YES!    So that’s what I did…..
The internet is an amazing thing, and u would not believe the things I found out about this company and the lady (Ashley) who owns it with her hubby.
This Ashley lady has a lot of online animal businesses rangeing from bull dogs to kittens to her latest business teacup puppies. Very suss!
I found heaps of rip off reports about  Ashley and her elite puppy company.
And this is where it gets tricky to explain…….
On these rip off report forums where heaps of complaints were made about Ashley and her company ms puppy connection
there were also reply’s to the complaints on the forum from Ashley herself saying that the complaints were made by a jealous breeder
who was pretending to be a customer and trying to de fame them.
This caught my attention because the company Ashley was talking about was the first site I had visited munchkinland (the one that didn’t ship to Aus)
Then the owner of Munchkinland (Debra) the one who was accused of being jealous,, gets on the site and has posted her say about the whole matter,
that’s when the story started  getting really full on. It was a huge fight between the two company’s and supposed customers.
I ended up researching both women and both of their company’s.
I was reading for hours and hours on these forums, there is complaint posts starting in 2003 and continuing through to this year.
That’s why this is a hard story to explain unless u read the rip off reports yourself,
if u want read the reports go to Ripoffreport.com and search Ashley Anderson or Mspuppyconnecton.com
After reading all those bad reviews
I ended  up sending Debra the owner of munchkinland an email,
In my email I told her I had been thinking of buying a pup from Ms puppy connection,
until i researched and found all those reviews and had read the huge fight between them.
We ended up talking more about the reviews about animals about each other, you know just chatting.
And I think she ended up trusting me after awhile of talking and that’s when she let me in on some horrible information
about mspuppyconnection.com  ‘They buy from puppymills’.
That’s all she told me to begin with but I kept talking to her about it and wanted proof etc and she gave it to me, in a big way..
First she educated me a bit more about puppy mills which made me sick!
I knew puppy mills exsisted and that they were horrible but
i’d never  really researched or watched footage about puppy mills before.
Go ahead and youtube puppy mills,
but if your a animal lover like me who does not know much about the mills
just be prepared to be completely and utterly shattered and disgusted in human beings.. :….(
Its not nice! I ran outside, threw up, got very angry and cried a lot…….
Debra then sent me an email along with links to korean kennels
and she also sent me a link for a google translator tool ….
This is the e-mail she sent me:
Here are some links of the Korea kennels. If you call the phone numbers you can try to get an english translator.
A puppy  bought from the Korean kennel for 500.000 won is $ 500 and if the Brokers in the Us buy the puppy
and have it flown to you they will sell it for $ 2500 or more.

So below are the wholesale kennels you can buy a puppy for 1,250,000won ,, $ 1250.00 or you can buy the same puppy
for $ 5,000 from the online Brokers you are looking at.
Debra..

http://tinypuppy.co.kr/
http://luxdog.co.kr/
http://dogfoot.co.kr/
Then she sends me another email right after the one above saying,,
What you choose to do with this information is up to you.

SCAREY!
I checked out the korean sites,
And they have the exact same beautiful dogs as the ones on ms puppy connection,
the photos are  exactly the same too….. !
There is some for sale for 125.000won which is 125 bucks!!
Brokers like Ashley go to Korea several times a year and buy heaps of puppies,
sometimes they just get them sent to their country and they pick them up at  airports late at night.
Everything happens for a reason….
If I never emailed this Debra lady I would not have learned what I did
and I would of ended up supporting a friggin puppy mill ARGH!!!
Here’s a review about ms puppy connection that I’d like to show you………………….
“My sister bought a pup from these people a couple of weeks ago and the pup is very sick.
Vet speculates it is because of in-breeding which led to the baby doll face of her Pom. All of their pups look the same.
Poor Pom-Pom has breathing problems, eye and ear problems because of the structure of her face.
She does not weigh enough and eats her own feces which is a sign of the puppy not being fed properly.
These people are offering CKC papers but pom-pom was suppose to have AKC papers.
After speaking with AKC, we find that breeders can easily get CKC papers on dogs and dodge AKC regulations.
We have placed calls to the breeder but no return calls. We only hope that our little girl can make it through Christmas.”
I read another review which I can’t find now, from a lady who spent her kids life savings for one of these dogs
and it died two weeks later :(   how cruel is that!
So in the end I decided against BUYING a puppy…
There’s heaps of animals sitting in shelters waiting for homes, why the hell would u breed more??
Don’t buy from online sites and don’t buy from pet shops because chances are
your buying a puppy mill puppy!
Don’t buy from a breeder adopt a pet and save a life..
How Can You Help?
*Boycott Pet Stores that sell animals
*Adopt a pet from a local shelter or no kill breed rescue
*Donate money, food etc to your local shelter and no kill breed rescue
*Sponsor a special needs dog in a rescue program
*Tell ALL your friends and family to do the same :)
The term “tea cup” just irritates me now,,,
read this…………………………………….
This is a topic that most assuredly needs to be brought to the attention of perspective puppy buyers.
Let’s start out by saying “THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A “TEACUP” PUPPY”.
With that in mind, let me say this; It seems as though there is a plethora of people who are insistent on buying tiny puppies in the 2 to 4 pound range.
Also commonly referred to as a “Teacup puppy”.
The word “Teacup” has been used to merely describe the size of a puppy,
meaning it is very small and will probably be under the standard size which is 4 to 7 pounds for the Toy Group, Yorkshire Terrier breed.
U just cannot imagine anyone wanting anything smaller than that!
Their bones are VERY fragile and can be broken by jumping off of a couch, falling off of a bed, being stepped on or worse.
If a breeder says they specialize in “teacups” RUN, RUN, RUN for the hills! Most “TEACUP” puppies are in reality, a premature puppy.
Most females are bred on the ninth through the fifteenth day of their heat cycles. Eggs can be fertilized for up to 72 hours after any of these breeding’s.
Therefore, it is possible to have puppies conceived up to a week or so younger than the puppies first conceived in a litter.
However, when the first puppies conceived are mature and ready to be born, labor starts and all the puppies will be born, no matter when they were fertilized.
Some of the problems that may be encountered are both genetic and congenital in these tiny babies and the list is a long one.
The risk of open fontanels (soft spot from the cranial bone not forming), portosystemic shunts (PSS- abnormal vessel that allows blood to bypass the liver.
As a result the blood is not cleansed by one of the bodies filters: the liver.), hypoglycemia, cardiac problems, collapsing trachea, luxating patellas,
Leggs Calves Perthes disease, seizures, hydroencephaly, blindness and digestive problems can be increased in these tiny babies.
Problems such as respiratory problems can remain or worsen throughout their lives.
These babies frequently are so fragile that they do not live more than a few years.
There have been several tiny Yorkies as adults who still had open fontanels and their owners had to carry nourishment with them all the time.
Their vets have felt it unsafe to give a full dose of vaccine so the puppies had to get several injections to be on the safe side.
There is no such thing as a “tea cup” Yorkshire Terrier, Maltese, Poodle, or any other breed for that matter.
They simply do not exist. “Tea-cup” is just a marketing ploy given by unethical and unscrupulous breeders to drive up the price of their puppies!

So called “Teacups” fetch anything from $ 1000 to $ 10,000! This is ridiculous and shameful! There are a lot of chronically, unhealthy puppies because unscrupulous
breeders and puppy mills are inbreeding.  Some poor darlings only live for a very, very short time!
They take the little teeny, tiny Yorkies and they breed 2 1/2 pounders with 3 pounders … well, they’re playing with genetics.
You should NEVER breed a female of any breed less than 5 pounds.
PLEASE educate yourselves before buying a tiny puppy whether it is a Yorkie or any other breed.
You could be in for months or years of heartbreak not to mention staggering veterinarian bills!
DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!!  IF YOU WANT A HEALTHY PUPPY, DON’T FALL FOR THE TEACUP ACT!
More about mills…….
Can you imagine forcing your pet dog to live his or her entire life in a small wire cage with no human companionship, toys or comfort,
and little hope of ever becoming part of a family?
That is what life is like for a puppy mill breeding dog. Help stop this cycle of cruelty that contributes to pet overpopulation and the suffering of countless dogs.
Puppy mills have been around for decades.
They continue to thrive because they prey on unwitting consumers who are smitten by too-cute-for-words puppies in pet store windows
and on legitimate-seeming websites. Puppy mills house dogs in shockingly poor conditions.
After their fertility wanes, breeding animals are often killed, abandoned or sold cheaply to another mill to try and get “one more litter” out of the dog.
The annual result of all this breeding is millions of puppies, many with behavior and/or health problems.

The dogs are prisoners of greed. They are locked in small cages. They freeze in the winter and swelter in the summer.
The dogs never get out of their prisons. They are bred over and over again until they die.
The only way to free them from the misery of these horrid puppymills is to eliminate the demand for puppies by refusing to buy a puppy in a pet store
and boycotting those pet stores that sell puppies.
When people stop buying puppies in pet stores, the puppy mills will go out of business and the misery will end.

The state and federal governments do not enforce the laws to protect the dogs.
The commercial breeders and brokers have huge well-funded lobbying efforts.
Please join this fight to free the prisoners of greed.
The only person who is going to make a difference for the dogs suffering in puppy mills is you. You, the people, can free them from their puppy mill prisons.

THIS IS HOPE A WEEK AFTER RESCUE.

Hope’s Story………..
The only way you can be sure that the puppy in the pet store did not come from a female dog just like Hope is to never buy a dog in a pet store.
When Linda, an HUA volunteer and director, picked the little dog up at the commercial kennel in Kansas, she was horrified.
She did not think that the dog would live long enough to make it back to the shelter.
Linda called the shelter on her way back and asked to have our vet standing by.
She took the dog directly to the clinic. Hope weighed just two pounds.
She had lost almost all of her hair from malnutrition, infection and stress.
Her teeth were rotten. Infection had spread throughout her tiny body.
Linda asked the vet if there was any hope for her. He said there was a little hope. So she became Hope.
Hope has touched the heart of everyone who has meet her.
If you ever wondered about what puppy mills were like, all you have to do is look at Hope’s face.
Look at the expression in her eyes. Look at her emaciated body.
Then tell everyone you know never to buy a dog in a pet store.
Hope is a Maltese. She was 6 years old when she was rescued.
Her first days of freedom were spent at the vet’s where they worked to save her life.
She went home to Linda. Her health was still very precarious. She gained weight very slowly.
At first the only food she would eat was Gerber Baby Meat Sticks. It took months for her to gain weight.
When she had her teeth cleaned, she lost 22 teeth
Her first trip out to the yard was very surprising to her. She had no idea what it was. She had never been outside.
At first she was quite timid but gradually she seemed to enjoy herself.
Hope is very happy. Her health has always been fragile so she gets very special care.
When you see the cute puppies in the pet store, think of Hope.
The kennel she came from in Kansas still sells puppies to pet stores on the East Coast.
HOPE A MONTH AFTER RESCUE.

Sadly the situation is not that different in Australia.
In April 2004 Animal Liberation Victoria (ALV) raided one of Australia’s largest puppy farms.
The Ballarat puppy farm has been the subject of over twenty raids by ALV in the last ten years and
their investigation team has uncovered appalling cruelty during each visit.
Debra Tranter, ALV’s puppy farm campaigner reports: “The dogs are filthy.
They are kept in dirty pens and never bathed or groomed.
Their fur forms huge matting, which can be quite painful… They are very, very frightened dogs.
They are never brought into a home or put on a lead.
In the middle of winter, it gets below zero and they sleep on a concrete floor with no bedding.”
The most recent raid received widespread media coverage including a double page feature in Sydney’s “Sunday Telegraph”.
It’s important we keep the pressure up to get  puppy farms shut down.
Make sure you tell all your friends about the cruelty behind that ‘cute little puppy’ in the pet shop window..

I want to seriously hurt every single person involved in this type of business!
As a supposedly advanced and peace-loving nation,
it is clearly in our best interests to educate ourselves about the cruelty to animals that happens in
Australia and around the world and take appropriate action.
CRUELTY TO ANIMALS ISN’T JUST INHUMANE, ITS DOWNRIGHT UN-AUSTRALIAN.
